Does it work for any insurance agent?

Short answer: Yes.

Long answer: I tried to keep in mind all types of agents while developing this tool.

The algorithm I developed to create each report includes hundreds of different logical operations to deliver the most relevant information and advice based on your specific situation.

Basically, it doesn’t matter if you’re a:

  • Captive or independent agent
  • 50 year agent or just getting started
  • General agency, only sell health insurance, or specialize in something else.
  • Physical agency or working out of your car

And while I work mostly with agents in the United States, I kept my international followers in mind during the development process and I’m confident 95% of the ideas and recommendations will be relevant to them also.

This is NOT one of those “free” online tools that’s really just a trick to generate leads. 

I made it to help as many agents as possible and there’s no reason any agent should hesitate to use it.

Besides, if you’re really worried, just don’t use your real agency name.

How do you decide what resources to recommend in the report?

My #1 goal with this tool is to create the most helpful resource for insurance agents.

I only recommend outside websites, informational resources, training programs, and marketing services that I truly believe are the best resources to help agents.

In some cases, I recommend services that I sell here at InsuranceSplash or marketing products we are affiliated with, which means InsuranceSplash could earn a commission if an agent clicks through one of the links in their report to purchase a product. Just like buying insurance through an agent, the customer never pays more and I only recommend products I’d be 100% comfortable recommending with no affiliation.

I’d like to make a tool like this for my website. What did you use to make it?

I programmed it from scratch.

There’s no pre-built tool that does anything like this and believe me – I looked.

Where did I get the idea?

It’s kind of a funny story if you’re interested…

A lot of agents ask me for direction when it comes to their marketing plan and many of these agents can’t afford to hire me. Plus, I just don’t feel right charging money for a general “what should I be doing?” conversation. (Although I know I should)

I hate to turn away an agent that just needs a little help, but things were starting to get out of hand and I can only give so much of my time away for free.

I knew that I needed a solution.

My first idea was to set aside a few blocks of time during the week to offer free 20 minute consultations just for these types of “what should I be doing” conversations. I figured it’d give me a way to help agents who don’t know where to start and I’d get the rest of my week back without feeling guilty.

I was really excited about the idea until I ran it past my wife.

With a not-so-nice look in her eyes she said, “So… you spend 6 nights a week on that damn computer making all this free stuff for insurance agents instead of spending time with me and now you want to go out of your way to give them free consulting?”

I was back to the drawing board.

24 hours later I had the idea to take this consultation conversation and convert it into an online format that would ask the same questions I’d ask an agent and provide the same answers, direction, and resources just like I’d be doing in person on a phone call.

I’d be able to give personalized insurance marketing advice to unlimited agents for free without investing any more of my time! I was excited.

I took the new idea back to my wife and she asked, “And, how much are you going to charge for it?”

I replied “Well… you know… I think this is… the kind of thing that… can help a lot of people… and…”

“You’re going to give it away for free aren’t you?”


“And how long is it going to take you to make?”

“A couple… maybe 3 weeks tops.”

Shaking her head,  “I can’t stop you, can I?”

That was 3 months ago.

But anyway, I’m really proud of it and I think it’s going to help a lot of agents. And if you don’t hear from me again for a long time you’ll know why. ;)
